These courses are specifically offered for the individual interested in pursuing or improving their professional development in the Private Security industry. It starts with the Basic Guard Card Certification and progresses to more advanced certifications including but not limited to armed guard card, baton, chemical agents, and handcuffing. Special training packages facilitate faster and more cost-effective training opportunities for the highly motivated. Courses are approved and certified through the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services.
Private Security is a rapidly growing and expanding field. What starts with the Basic Guard Card, can lead to professional development into areas such as executive protection, private investigations, and advanced training certifications. Our Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) approved training courses certify proficiency and comply with the California Department of Consumer Affairs Skill Training Course for Security Guards.
BSIS Basic Guard Card Course (8 hrs.)
NOTE: New BSIS rules for 2024 will require this course to be taught in a traditional class setting - meaning in an instructor lead classroom.
Features the basic guard card certification in one 8-hour class.
The course material emphasizes subjects including Powers of Arrest and Appropriate Use of Force along with instructor assistance for BSIS application submission for final certification.
BSIS Basic Baton Course (8 hrs)
This course is the basic BSIS Baton qualification course for professional security officers and requires a valid BSIS Basic Guard Card certification as a prerequisite.
This 8-hour course is designed to prepare the student to legally and effectively carry and if necessary, employ the expandable baton in the course of their duties.
The cost of the certification is included in the price of the course. The student will receive their BSIS certification card after the successful completion of the written test and demonstration of all practical skills taught in the classroom.
BSIS Exposed Firearms Certification Course (16 hrs)
This course is designed to meet the basic requirements for individuals to achieve their Exposed Firearms Qualifications in accordance BSIS requirements for armed security officers. A valid Basic Guard Card, proof of citizenship, or legal residency are required to participate in this class.
NOTE: This is not an introductory course. Prior firearms familiarization is strongly recommended to successfully complete the live fire qualification for this course. (Please see our Basic Firearms for Armed Professionals (B-PAP) Course for more information.)
For an additional fee, Execushield can provider loaner gun belts, loaner Glock 19’s, and the 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition required for completion of the course.
BSIS Firearms Re-qualification. (4 hrs.)
This course is designed to meet the BSIS requirements for individuals to maintain their Exposed Firearms Qualifications in accordance BSIS requirements for armed security officers. We offer both live fire range time as well as a digital force option simulator.
Basic Pistol for the Armed Professional Course (BPAP) (16 hrs)
This course was crafted to educate, familiarize and develop competence for the novice or beginner firearms student seeking training as a security professional.
The B.S.I.S. Exposed Firearms Course is NOT a training course for the new or novice shooter. Students really should possess the basics of the course’s specific skills prior to attending Course if they wish to be truly successful.
This two-day class will help the security officer develop their skills in the specific areas required/tested in the Exposed Firearms Qualification Course, as well as safe handling/ proper loading and unloading/basic manipulation, firearms and ammunition familiarization, pistol nomenclature, and the Fundamentals of Marksmanship.
BPAP class certificate, can also be used for a discounted rate for any of Execushield’s Exposed Firearms BSIS certification offered classes, provided registration in one of our Exposed firearms classes is within 90 days of this course completion.

Upon successful completion of this course, we can offer a discounted rate for participating in the Execushield Exposed Firearms Certification Course, listed above, provided registration is within 90 days of course completion.
We understand that sometimes it is necessary to cancel registrations. Therefore, cancellations made less than seventy-two (72) hours of the start date will not be refunded. If you would like to reschedule for a future class, please notify us at least seventy-two (72) hours prior to the class date to avoid charges. If you reschedule within twenty-four (24) hours of a registered class date you will be charged 50% of the full price.
